March 28th, 2021 - Off and Running...

So we're finally off and running. Looking at the different people signing up, we've got a great spread of supporters from all corners of the league, both geographically and between the Premier and First Divisions.

Always interesting looking at the bonus point choices. For the Premier Division strikers, Pat Hoban was the favoured choice with 32 people selecting him. Aaron Greene was next best with 21 votes followed closely by club mate Graham Burke on 19. After that, David McMillan (13), David Parkhouse (10) and Ronan Coughlan (8) were next.

The First Division was saw Gary Shaw pick up 21 votes with Yoyo Mahdy getting 19. Brandon Kavanagh (16), Michael O'Connor (14) and Ronan Manning (13) were next most popular.

In the Sack Race, Kevin Sheedy is the favourite with 14 votes followed by Declan Devine on 9. It was close enough then between Stephen O'Donnell (7), Shane Keegan and Tim Clancy (6 votes each). Ollie Horgan had 5 votes, no doubt laughing at those who picked him now that he's sitting pretty at the top of the league two weeks in. Stephen Bradley and Liam Buckley were the only managers not to be selected by anyone!

March 28th, 2021 - The Pursuit of Accidents is right ...

We're up and running at last after a false start last weekend. Typically, after deciding to scrap week one and start afresh, the missing score submissions came through in the early hours of this morning, only nine days late. This has allowed me to redo week one's points so we have a full season with all games included.

For the interests of transparency, my bonus point choices for the season are Aaron Greene and Patrick Hoban from the Premier Division. I've gone for Brandon Kavanagh and Yoyo Mahdy from the First Division. He may have put the ball in the England net in 1991 but I still think Kevin Sheedy will be first to depart his post in the sack race. As a Liverpool fan I still haven't forgiven him for flicking the V's to the Kop in 1987. Like so many other times, Ian Rush had the final say on that day though too...

March 28th, 2021 - About Us ...

Hello and thanks for taking a look at the site.

This is second season of our predictions league for the League of Ireland. I have another website called Block 102 which follows a similar format for the English Premier League. I set that website up back in 2006 in a former employment where we previously ran a spreadsheet based predictions league! Feel free to take a look at Block 102 to get an idea of how it all works. That website has been steady for about 15 years now - a couple of years we had over 100 people taking part but the last few seasons has settled on around 60 to 70 participants....

I'm a bit of a numbers freak and like putting the fixtures and results together as a hobby (my day job is an accountant and, yes, I need to get out more...). I don't anticipate or intend to make anything from the website financially. All the entry fees (less PayPal transaction charges) go into the season prize fund. Therefore the more that sign up, the more the prize fund. There is a Kofi link on the home page which people sometimes use to buy me a virtual coffee and give something towards the website running costs. That's alway appreciated but never necessary.....

I'm not affiliated with any other websites or podcasts - the recent growth in League of Ireland podcasts and websites has renewed my interest in the League of Ireland and I've had a Shamrock Rovers season ticket for the last couple of seasons (cue the Bohs fans heading for the exit...).
