February 15th - Off and Running...

So we're finally off and running. Looking at the different people signing up, we've got a great spread of supporters from all corners of the league, great to see.

Always interesting looking at the bonus point choices. Patrick Hoban was way ahead as the most popular striker choice - 40 people from the 48 taking part picked the Dundalk marksman. Aaron Greene, Dinny Corcoran and Michael Duffy were next best with 25, 23 and 21 choices respectively.

Gary Rogers was the goalkeeper picked most often - 24 of you went for the veteran stopper followed by Alan Mannus with 13 votes.

Cork's financial difficulties might have influenced the 14 of you that opted for Neal Fenn to depart his post first. Alan Reynolds was just two points behind with 12 votes - no doubt laughing all the way back home on Friday night after picking up three points at Richmond Park.

February 12th - 2 Days To Go...

Right, time for me to make a few bonus point choices!

I'm going to spread the goal scorer choices over a few clubs so as to not limit my bonus points - therefore, I'm putting a hex on Aaron Greene, Dinny Corcoran and Patrick Hoban.

Hoping Alan Mannus will add a few bonus points with numerous clean sheets over the season. The Sack Race is always a hard one to call - going to take a punt on Ollie Horgan in this one after he decides to walk after being banished to the stands for the fourth time in the season....

The team name will have to be a nod to my old local team TEK United - let's go with The Dairymen of Stradbrook for that one...

Good luck to all taking part, let battle commence!

January 17th - About Us ...

Hello and thanks for taking a look at the site.

This is my first venture into a predictions league for the League of Ireland. I have another website called Block 102 which follows a similar format for the English Premier League. I set that website up back in 2006 in a former employment where we previously ran a spreadsheet based predictions league! Feel free to take a look at Block 102 to get an idea of how it all works. That website has been steady for about 14 years now - a couple of years we had over 100 people taking part but the last few seasons has settled on around 60 participants....

I'm a bit of a numbers freak and like putting the fixtures and results together as a hobby (my day job is an accountant and, yes, I need to get out more...). I don't anticipate or intend to make anything from the website financially. All the entry fees (less PayPal transaction charges) go into the season prize fund. Therefore the more that sign up, the more the prize fund. There is a Kofi link on the home page which people sometimes use to buy me a virtual coffee and give something towards the website running costs. That's alway appreciated but never necessary.....

I'm not affiliated with any other websites or podcasts - the recent growth in League of Ireland podcasts and websites has renewed my interest in the League of Ireland and I've had a Shamrock Rovers season ticket for the last couple of seasons (cue the Bohs fans heading for the exit...).

Everyone is welcome to take part - anything which promotes our game and gives people an interest in the weekend games can't be a bad thing. The format is fairly simple - you send in predictions every week for the Premier Division matches. You supplement the points earned from those predictions with a few bonus points from the entry form you complete at the start of the season. I'll send out a weekly update with the monthly and overall leaderboards and a spreadsheet where you can audit your weekly points totals.
