July 7th - Shamrock Rovers will start their European campaign with a four point lead at the top of the table. They dropped points for the third time this season against their bogey side Drogheda United. The game in Weavers Park finished nil-all. That draw turned out to be an ok result when news of Cork City's late equaliser in Richmond Park came through. St Patricks Athletic looked to be closing the gap at the top to just two points through Jake Mulraney's opener but Ruairi Keating struck three minutes into injury time to earn the Leesiders a point. Of the teams heading into Europe next week, Derry City were the only ones to taste victory. They needed a 95th minute penalty from Will Patching to overcome Sligo Rovers by two goals to one. Jamie McGonigle had opened the scoring for the hosts only for former player Dan Lafferty to equalise. Ben Doherty saw his penalty saved before a second spot kick was dispatched by Patching very late on. Bohemians came out on top by the odd goal in five against Dundalk at Dalymount Park. Dundalk lead two-one going into the last ten minutes but goals from John O'Sullivan and Jonathan Afolabi gave the hosts all three points. If Bohs win their two games in hand then they'll be just three points off the lead. The final game in the Premier Division on Friday night saw Shelbourne score four goals with out reply against the hapless UCD. Goals from Jack Moylan, JJ Lunney, Sean Boyd and JR Wilson saw Damien Duff's side record a comfortable win. The top three in the first division all drew. The big game of the night saw the points shared between Cobh Ramblers and Galway United. Cobh were ahead inside three minutes through Pierce Phillips but the leaders earned a point through David Hurley's penalty. Waterford missed their chance to close the gap at the top when they drew two-all at home with Longford. They were ahead twice but couldn't hold on despite Ronan Coughlan's 28th goal of the season. Athlone's play off push continued with an excellent four-one win in Wexford. All the goals came in the first half in that one. Bray remain in the final play off spot after a nil-all draw at Finn Harps. The Wicklow side are three points clear of Treaty United who won three-two in the Kingdom, defeating Kerry. Shane McCormack is the early leader for July. He's picked up 47 points so far and has a five point lead over our overall leader Brian Boyle. He's followed by four people who share third spot, five points back - Andy Dunne, Jake Murphy, Joseph Kavanagh and Stan Tormey: |

July 14th and 15th - The big game in the Premier Division saw the points shared as Shelbourne and Bohemians drew one-all in Tolka Park. Jack Moylan scored just before the hour mark to give Damien Duff's side the lead but Jonathan Afolabi equalised in the final ten minutes. That's the fourth game in a row that the Bohs striker has scored. UCD remain fourteen points adrift at the bottom of the table. They lost three-one at home to Drogheda United. Kevin Doherty's side moved five points clear of the relegation play off spot with that win as Cork City lost three-nil at Sligo Rovers on Saturday night. Max Mata scored in that one to move level with Chris Forrester at the top of the scoring charts with eleven goals for the season. The game between Treaty United and Waterford was rained off. That allowed Galway United to go sixteen points clear at the top of the first division. David Hurley headed home a late winner at Athlone for the runaway leaders. Wexford recorded their first ever win at the Carlisle Grounds. They scored three without reply against a Bray side who finished with nine men. Wexford's win saw them close the gap on the Wicklow side to two points as they battle for the final play off spot. The game of the weekend was in Donegal where Finn Harps beat Cobh Ramblers by four goals to three. The final game of the weekend saw Longford beat Kerry by two goals to one. Shane McCormack leads the July competition for a second week. He has a three point lead over Daniel Dorrian in second place. Third place is shared by Jake Murphy and Joseph Kavanagh - they're just five points off the lead. Fifth place is shared by Brian Cunningham and Trevor Rankin - full details below: |

July 28th and 29th - The three games played in the Premier Division on Friday night saw all teams reach the 25 games played mark. With eleven games to go, the top four are separated by just five points. Two goals from Jonathan Afolabi saw Bohemians beat UCD two-nil at Dalymount to move to within five points of the lead. It's all to play for at the top as we head towards the final quarter of the season. At the bottom, Cork City fell six points adrift of safety when they lost two-nil at home to Shelbourne. A goal in each half, one from Harry Wood and one from Sean Boyd saw Damien Duff's side consolidate sixth place, four points off the top four. Drogheda came from two goals down to earn a point at home to Sligo Rovers. Adam Foley and Dayle Rooney scored the goals as Kevin Doherty's side earned a point. Galway United increased their lead in the first division to a massive eighteen points. They had a comfortable three-nil win at home to Bray Wanderers - Stephen Walsh scored two and David Hurley added another, his fifteenth league goal of the season. Waterford needed a 93rd minute equaliser from Cameron Cresswell to earn a point away to Athlone. Cobh Ramblers continue towards a play off spot. A one-nil win in Longford on Saturday night saw them establish a nine point cushion from Bray in sixth place. Wexford beat Treaty United one-nil on Friday night to move into the last playoff spot - Thomas Oluwa's second goal since joining earned the three points for the South East side. Finn Harps scored an injury time winner at Kerry to move to within three points of the playoffs - their poor goal difference means it's effectively a four point gap. A timely 36 point score this weekend saw Daniel Dorrian win the July monthly competition. He had ten points to spare in the end over three people who shared second place - Brian Cunningham, Kevin Nolan and Trevor Rankin - full details below: |
