July 4th - Shelbourne's lead at the top of the table is now three points despite a tough night in Drogheda. Damien Duff's side ended the night with nine players and a point from a one-all draw. They were ahead through through Tyreke Wilson but he was then one of two players sent off before Douglas James-Taylor equalised from the spot for the bottom side. There was better news for the leaders as second placed Derry City lost two-one at Sligo Rovers. Paul McMullan scored the opener for the Candystripes but two second half goals from Ellis Chapman gave the Bit O'Red their second home win in a week. The gap at the top is now three points but Shelbourne still have a game in hand.

Waterford consolidated third place with a one-nil win at home to St Patricks Athletic. Ben McCormack scored the winner against his former side for Keith Long's side in that one. It was the same scoreline at Tallaght Stadium where Shamrock Rovers beat Dundalk. Johnny Kenny scored the only goal in the first half there giving the Hoops a much-needed three points. The final game in the top division saw the points shared as Galway and Bohemians drew one-all. Bohs were ahead early on through Dayle Rooney's penalty but Rob Slevin's equaliser early in the second half saw the points shared.

Cathal O'Sullivan scored twice as leaders Cork City won three-one at Wexford in the first division. Their lead at the top is now fifteen points. Athlone Town are now in second place after a two-one win at third placed UCD. Dean Ebbe was on the scoresheet again in that one. Sean Patton scored the only goal in the first half in Ballybofey as Finn Harps beat Kerry. Bray Wanderers remain in fifth place despite a surprise one-nil defeat at home to Longford. Cobh Ramblers beat Treaty United one-nil in Limerick to reignite their playoff hopes - they've moved ahead of Wexford now and are sixth in the table.

With the European teams having no league games in July and a round of the FAI Cup thrown in for good measure, the July monthly competition will be a bit of a sprint. David King and Greg Donaghy are the early leaders for the month after they both scored an excellent 53 points on Thursday night. Kevin McQuaide is third after a fifty point haul. The top five is completed by Brian Mason and Daniel Dorrian - full details below:

July 12th - With last season's top four away on European business, there were only three games in the top division. Waterford missed out on the chance to close the gap on the top two after they slipped to defeat at Galway. Patrick Hickey scored the only goal of the game early on as the Tribesmen moved level on points with Shamrock Rovers. Sligo Rovers good form continued - despite losing Stephen Mallon to a red card before half time they still managed to win two-nil at Bohemians. The goals came Wilson Waweru and Ellis Chapman as John Russell's side also moved onto 34 points alongside Galway and Rovers.

Dundalk beat Drogheda United four-two in the Louth Derby. Two second half goals from Daryl Horgan sealed another three points for the improving Lilywhites. Douglas James-Taylor scored both goals for the visitors but crowd trouble at the end of the game stole the headlines. The two sides meet again next Friday in the FAI Cup at Weavers Park.

Cork City's lead at the top of the first division is now 15 points. Cathal O'Sullivan's strike ensured a one-nil win over fourth placed Finn Harps. The Leesiders have only conceded nine goals in twenty four games and remain well on course for an instant return to the top division after last season's relegation.

Athlone Town remain second in the table. They won the Midlands Derby cruising to a four-one win at home to Longford Town. Noah van Geenen scored twice in that one as Longford ended up with ten men after Mohamed Boudiaf's late red card.

History was made at Mounthawk Park as Ryan Kelliher scored Kerry FC's first hat-trick since entering the lead. Despite his scoring feat, the hosts had to settle for a three-all draw as Bray battled back from two-nil and three-two down. UCD's faltering form continued - they were held one-all by Treaty United at Belfield - Eanna Clancy's second half equaliser cancelling out Mark Byrne's opener. Finally, Wexford got their play-off push back on track with a three-nil win at home to Cobh Ramblers. James Keddy's side are two points outside the playoffs with a game in hand.

Three people share the lead in the July competition after Friday night's games. Carl Toner, Greg Donaghy and Shane Coughlan are all on 79 points. Eoghan Brophy's reward for top scoring this week with 46 points sees him climb to fourth place, just three points off the leaders. Neil Walsh completes the top five for the month so far:

July 26th & 27th - Drogheda United's survival chances got another boost when they beat Waterford United two-nil at Weavers Park on Friday night. A goal in each half from Franz Pierrot and Adam Foley gave them a big three points. They're only three points behind their county rivals Dundalk now. Jon Daly's side had to come from a goal down against Bohemians to earn a point. Ross Tierney opened the scoring but Daryl Horgan's goal ensured the spoils were shared. Dundalk remain four points behind Alan Reynolds' side who have two games in hand. There's another big game at the bottom next weekend when Bohemians travel up to Drogheda. Another win for Kevin Doherty's side might make things a bit more interesting towards the bottom of the table. Sligo Rovers climbed to fourth in the table after a fourth consecutive win. Wilson Waweru opened the scoring and Luke Pearce added a second in injury time to seal the win for John Russell's side.

Cork City beat Kerry two-nil to maintain their title ambitions in the first division. The goals came in the second half courtesy of Charlie Lyons and Barry Coffey either side of a red card for Kerry's Ronan Teahan. Athlone remain in second place after a two-one win at Cobh Ramblers. Leo Gaxha opened the scoring for the visitors but Mathew McKevitt levelled matters before half-time. Kyle Robinson's injury time goal then gave Athlone the win.

Bray beat Wexford in an entertaining game at the Carlisle Ground. Aaron Dobbs cancelled out Kieran Cruise's opener before an own goal and a Peter Grogan strike ensured another three points for the Seasiders. Bray remain fourth in the table and, more importantly, opened up a five point lead over their opponents in the playoff race. Treaty United kept their faint playoff hopes alive with a one-nil win over Finn Harps. Enda Curran scored the only goal in that one. Saturday night's game saw UCD pick up their first win in five. They came from behind to beat bottom side Longford two-one at Bishopsgate.

A score of 37 points this week saw Greg Donaghy win the monthly prize for July. He had an eight point margin of victory over Eoghan Brophy and Kevin McQuaide who shared second place. Brian Mason and Shane Coughlan completed the top five for the month, sharing fourth place, ten points behind the leader. Full details below:
