June 1st to 7th - Shelbourne retain a two point lead at the top of the Premier Division after a hard fought win over Dundalk on Friday night. The winner came with just twenty minutes to go - John Martin scoring the winner against his former side. Dundalk had recorded their first win with Jon Daly as boss on Monday night - a fast start in Inchicore saw them eventually win three-two. Stephen Kenny's indifferent start to life in charge of Pats continued on Friday night when they were held scoreless by Drogheda.

Derry City picked up two decent home wins this week to consolidate second place. Waterford were dispatched three-nil on Monday evening with Galway beaten two-nil on Friday. Pat Hoban scored in both games for the Candystripes. Waterford bounced back from that defeat with a four-one win over Sligo Rovers on Friday night. Keith Long's side moved level on points with third placed Shamrock Rovers with that win. Both sides are nine points behind the leaders with a game in hand.

Cork City's lead over UCD at the top of the table remains nine points. The top two played out a scoreless draw at Turners Cross on Monday evening. Two first half goals then gave the leaders a two-nil win at home to Longford on Friday. UCD needed a 95th minute winner from Eanna Clancy to see off Kerry's challenge - the Students winning two-one.

The playoff picture remains quite tight. Athlone Town are in third place - they drew one-all with Finn Harps on Monday evening. The Donegal side are still fourth in the table despite losing two-nil at Cobh Ramblers on Friday night. Bray Wanderers are in the last playoff spot - they had one win and one defeat this week - a three-one win at home to Cobh Ramblers on Monday evening was followed by defeat away to Treaty United on Friday.

Bill Gleeson is the early leader for June - a timely use of his Joker scoreline on Friday saw him end up on 82 points for the month so far. James Keville is in second place - he's just a point off top spot. Three people share third place - Jason Shanahan, Paul Moore and Philip Rankin - full details below:

June 13th - You could be forgiven for thinking that it's now a two horse race for the league title this season. Shelbourne retained their two point lead at the top following a one-nil win in Waterford. Will Jarvis scored the only goal early in the second half as Damien Duff's side went into the mid-season break in very good shape. Derry City needed an injury time winner at Bohemians to stay on their tail. Danny Mullan scored very late on to give the Foylesiders a vital three points at Dalymount Park.

Around the same time Derry were scoring that late winner Brandon Kavanagh was heading home a winner for St Patricks Athletic. In a game which was a carbon copy of the game earlier in the season, Pats came from a goal behind to beat Shamrock Rovers at Richmond Park. That defeat leaves the reigning champions twelve points behind the leaders with a game in hand. With fifteen games left to play it seems a big ask for Stephen Bradley's side to claw back such a deficit.

Dundalk picked up another home win - one-nil at home to Sligo Rovers. Their home form is a big factor in their recent climb up the table. They're just five points behind Bohemians now in the battle to avoid a relegation playoff. Drogheda United remain bottom of the table - they lost three-nil at Galway United.

Cork City's promotion procession continued in the first division. A four-one win at home to Cobh Ramblers in the Leeside Derby left them eleven points clear at the top of the table. UCD remain in second place but are now a distant second after a one-all draw at Finn Harps. Bray Wanderers recent good form continued - they beat Athlone Town one-nil to move ahead of their opponents in third place in the table.

Wexford's playoff prospects were dealt a blow when they lost one-nil at home to Treaty United. James Keddy's side are now four points outside the playoffs but have a game in hand. The final game in the first division saw Kerry record their fourth win of the season - they beat bottom side Longford Town two-one at Mounthawk Park.

Joseph Kavanagh now leads the June competition with a score of 127 points. He leads Paul Moore by just one point with next Friday's games to go in the monthly competition. Darragh Kenny scored an excellent 66 points this week and is now in joint third place with Philip Rankin. Luke Hogan completes the top five, just seven points behind the leader:

June 28th - The top two in the Premier Division both recorded home wins on Friday night. Shelbourne beat Galway United two-nil at Tolka Park. John Martin opened the scoring with Evan Caffrey scoring the second before half time. Conor Kearns saved a penalty from Francely Lomboto in the final quarter as Damien Duff's side remained two points clear. Derry City beat Drogheda United five-one at the Brandywell - Ruaidhri Higgins side had five different scorers as they cantered to victory. Adam Foley had briefly levelled for the visitors but any hope of a point on the road was soon gone.

Waterford are clear now in third place after their second win of the season at Oriel Park. Goals from Connor Parsons and Dean McMenamy saw Keith Long's side continue their pursuit of a European spot. Shamrock Rovers title defence took another (terminal) blow after a two-nil defeat in Sligo. Another old boy came back to haunt Stephen Bradley's side as Simon Power scored twice late on. The reigning champions are fifteen points off the lead ahead of July where it looks like cup progression will make or break their season. The final game in the top division ended scoreless at Richmond Park. St Patricks Athletic and Bohemians could only manage one shot on goal between them both sides were happy with a point.

A single goal from Evan McLaughlin was enough to send Cork City thirteen points clear at the top of the first division as Bray Wanderers were beaten at Turners Cross. UCD were also on Leeside but had to settle for a point after twice being behind at Cobh Ramblers.

Athlone Town's good run continued - Dean Ebbe scored the only goal of the game as Treaty United were beaten one-nil. The other two games in the division ended one-all. Ten-man Kerry rescued a point at home to Wexford with Ryan Kelliher's injury time equaliser. Wexford's play-off challenge has ebbed away over the last while with just one win in ten. Longford Town and Finn Harps drew by the same scoreline - the Donegal side moving level on points with Bray Wanderers in the last playoff spot.

The June monthly competition ended with two people sharing first place - Joseph Kavanagh and Paul Moore both finishing on 165 points. They were five points clear of Philip Rankin in third place. Fourth place was share by Brian Mason and myself (a decent month for Joe's Tips at long last...). Full details below:
